Monday! Monday! Monday! What's so special about Monday you might ask? It is the beginning of FITE WEEK!
For the first fite of this amazing week, the massive gentlemanly dragon
Draco shall be fiting the plucky young white mage Sarah. Draco and
Sarah, time to Fite Yer' Mate!
The two combatants enter the ring to hails of applause and fanfare.
Sarah waves to the many cheering fans while Draco positions himself in
the middle of the ring, ready to get the show on the proverbial road.
Once the crowd dies down a bit, Sarah brings her massive hammer to bear.
Draco grins at the little white mage.
"Ready, tubby?"
Sarah ignores his insult, instead focusing on readying the charge on
Thor's Hammer. Gezora begins the countdown, and as soon as he gives the
signal, both combatants leap. Sarah leaps towards Draco, who leaps out
of the way and begins to fly around in the air. Sarah begins to hurl
thunderbolts from her hammer, but the gentlemanly dragon has no trouble
ducking and dodging the projectile lightning. Draco snorts a puff of
flame, but begins to hover in place after Sarah's assault ends.
"Do
you even remember why I challenged you to this fite?" Draco begins, "I
wouldn't expect you to, with you lack of formal education beyond putting
your arms in the air and yelling magic words. I contested your victory
in the Impersonate Yer' Mates competition. Your performance was bland
and full of cliches. You could have slapped any old villain's name on
your act and it would have been the same thing. Other people, like
Nepeta, put effort in their show. If Sine hadn't gone first and ruined
the novelty of a Sarah costume, I would have no doubt she would have
won. If anything, Nepeta performed like you should
behave. But of course, she would have had to get through you. You only
won because of how disgustingly cute you behave. The judges had no
choice but to vote for you, because everyone would hate to make poor
little Sarah cry because she lost. You are the most manipulative person
here. If anyone wants to speak out against you, the bar despises them as
if you were some goddess free from imperfection. And why? Because of
your nauseatingly adorable personality that, I might say, is wildly
inappropriate for a girl your age. Do you see anyone else your age
fawning over a boy like a stalker and putting on ridiculous parades for
him? If you didn't have your shield of cuteness, you'd just be another
face in the crowd, Number 3."
Sarah stood dumbfounded from
Draco's rant. Most of Draco's previous insults were light-hearted and
funny, but this one just grabbed all of Sarah's insecurities and shook
them violently like a belligerent magic 8-ball. Is she manipulating
people with her cuteness? And is her behavior towards Alex
inappropriate? Her eyes begin to tear up from all her sad thoughts,
obscuring her vision and preventing her from seeing Draco fly towards
her and smacking her across the arena. The audience boos at Draco's
offensive rant, but he turns to them to address their complaints.
"A good businessman knows his foe's weakest point is the mind."
Sarah
hits the arena wall with a shriek of pain. She quickly cures the damage
to her back before she runs back to the arena's center, hoping to drown
out the thoughts of Draco's mean words by focusing solely on the fite.
Draco feels Holy spells slam into his body as he tries to get back in
the air, and although they do little damage, they manage to prevent his
escape from Sarah's charge. Leaping up once more, the white mage this
time manages to grab onto a leg and begin to scale her massive draconic
foe.
Draco twists about in the air as he tries to dislodge the
white mage from his body, but he finds that she is just out of reach of
any of his claws. He tries to shake her off as well, but she grabs onto
the spikes on his back and holds on as Draco makes himself dizzy from
all the spinning and shaking. While he was momentarily disoriented,
Sarah takes her hammer and jabs it's sharp end into one of the wings.
Draco roars in pain as she manages to tear the wing off at its base.
The
two fall together in a spiral as Sarah jabs her hammer into the other
wings and removes it as well. Before Draco hit the ground, Sarah casts
Float to hover above the falling dragon. Draco lands on his back,
looking up to see the white mage who just crippled his flying ability.
The usually reserved dragon allows himself to get angry. With a
swiftness unseen before in the dragon, Draco whips his body up and
smacks the white mage down with his tail. Sarah slams down into the
ground, another shrill scream escaping her lips. Before she could cast a
spell to heal the damages. One of Draco's claws crushes the magic
caster. Bones shatter beneath his massive girth, and Sarah screams as
one of the claws dig into the flesh of her left arm. Almost
effortlessly, the clawed finger yanks the arm off at the elbow.
Sarah,
despite her situation, begins to look for her hammer, hoping to
electrocute the brute that stood on top of her. Draco's free hand holds
up Thor's Hammer.
"Looking for this thing? Well go get it."
The
hammer is flung up towards the ceiling. The pointy edge lodging into
it, leaving the hammer stuck way out of the reaches of the crippled
competitors. Draco grins once more, and leans down to look at Sarah's
face. Sarah was in immense pain, but she still looked determined,
somehow clinging to the hope that she could escape this situation. Draco
laughs, and then begins to breath fire on the white mage. She manages
to cast a weak NulFire spell before the flames start, but it only lasts
for so long. Soon, the white mage's robe, face, and hair are on fire
with the flames from the dragon's maw.
Sarah feels a pain unlike any she has felt before. Almost all of her
beautiful golden blond hair is burnt off, and the only remaining hair is
charred a dark ugly black. Her white robe is burnt to the same color,
and it is tattered to the point it can only barely cover her body. She
begins to feel one of her eyes melt from the sheer intensity of the
heat. She can't get in a Cure spell or any other spells. Draco's flames
stop.
"I don't need to kill you to win. That would just be
ungentlemanly. Just let yourself faint, and this will all be over. If
you don't soon, the flames will, unfortunately, kill you."
Draco
gives her time to think it over, but she still refuses to quit. With a
sigh, he begins to ready a second wave of firebreath. As soon as the
flames start, a blue glow appears from beneath the mage's tattered
robes. The Water Crystal has activated...
The feeble body of the damaged white mage is surrounded by a sphere of
water, protecting her completely from the fire’s damage. The sphere
begins to grow in size, causing Draco to release Sarah and begin
retreating to try and escape it. Soon, the sphere engulfs him, the
referee, the crowd, and the entire arena!
This battle is underwater now.
Sarah
begins to cure herself, but she finds that her barrage of Holy spells
on the flying Draco earlier seriously depleted her magic points. She
only manages to cast some weaker cure spells, repairing some bones and
internal injuries, but leaving her with one eye and a bad hair day.
Adjusting her tattered robes into a makeshift swimsuit, Sarah begins to
swim like a magnificent marlin towards Draco.
Draco moved through
the water less like a fish and more like a Dumbo Octopus. Okay, more
like how Dumbo the elephant might move through the water. Draco
doggie-paddled about, trying to find somewhere he might find air. He
could hold his breath fine for a long time, but it was best to know
where some oxygen is when the time to breathe came. He saw Sarah, but
for now he’d have to ignore her. He swam past crowd members who tried to
get their bearings in the water, but there seemed to be no air pockets
anywhere in the arena. He would have to finish this quickly.
Draco
begins to swim towards Sarah, and he eventually finds a faster swimming
method by swimming similarly to a giant reptilian otter. Not having his
wings actually made swimming much easier it seemed. Draco tried to find
out where Sarah was swimming off to, but by the time he caught up with
the Warrior of Light, she had already reached her destination. The
arena-wide flood had gone all the way up to the ceiling. Sarah had
retrieved Thor's Hammer.
A couple bubbles escaped Draco's mouth that, if he were on land, would have been the words "Oh crap."
Sarah
swims towards Draco as the dragon tries to dodge, but his mobility is
impaired by the water. It seems the water has trapped him in a tomb of
currents, leaving him directly in the line of Sarah's charge. Draco
swings his claw forward, barely managing to push Sarah away from
braining him with the hammer. Her swings seemed even faster than they
were on land.
The watery tomb begins to swirl about, Draco
struggles to keep his eyes on the mage amidst the whirlpool, only to
notice the calm waters that seemed to surround her. Draco cursed the
water crystal, but then he got an idea. He lashes forward with his jaws,
biting off the mage's legs.
Ouch.
Unfortunately for
Sarah, the Water Crystal was also stored around her waist, and the legs
being consumed caused the crystal to go free. The currents stopped, and
Sarah used the last of her magic power to heal the damage to her legs,
leaving two stumps in their place. Both Draco and Sarah were now
impaired in the water. Both eyed the Water Crystal. Both swam towards it
as best they could.
Draco got there first.
With a massive
gulp, Draco consumed both the crystal and a few gallons of dirty water.
But the crystal does nothing in his stomach. He can't breath in the
water, he can't swim any better. It only worked for the true Warrior of
Light.
Speaking of breathing, a certain dragon has found his
lungs incapable of holding up any longer. The dragon needs to breath, or
he'll pass out and drown. What Draco didn't realize during his
consumption of the crystal and the breathing problem was that Sarah had
not been aiming for the crystal. She was aiming for Draco. As soon as
Draco had found himself with a bellyful of water and lungs empty of air,
he also found his underside full of hammer. The pointy end had found a
spot between the scales and punctured right into the dragon's belly.
Draco's hand quickly pulled the heavily injured mage in front of his
face and he prepared to bite her head off for the kill.
And then Thor's Hammer electrocuted him.
As is the norm for electrified fiters, Draco's insides are liquified,
leaving the dragon KO'd in the water. Sarah feels the shock of her
hammer as well, passing out mere moments after the dragon's death. The
lifeless bodies of the fiters fall to the ground, but the referee has
declared Sarah the winner, since she barely managed to outlast the
dragon.
The audience is still struggling in the water at this
point, some passed out from lack of air, others trying to find a way to
escape the flooded arena. The referee, however, has no problem with the
flooded arena, and has taken the opportunity to get back in touch with
his inner cuttlefish.
