Hasn't it been a wonderfully brutal week folks? A dragon was slain, VR
consoles made their users bleed, a sheep was skinned and served, robots
and turtles ice skated, everyone was briefly a ghost, and two
competitors became one. What more can you ask for? I'll tell you what!
You can ask for...
THE GRAND FITE WEEK FINALE!
The
winners of the week are here to see who is the strongest. Some whispers
of friendship have permeated amongst the rabble, but unless that
friendship involves decapitation or disemboweling, this ain't the place
for it! This is FITE Yer' Mates! So Sarah, Jonesy, Jaxx, Eddie and
James, Alex the Janitor and WarMech-Z, get ready to FITE YER' MATES!!!
Sarah and Alex walk arm in arm into the arena. Alex is clearly nervous,
but Sarah pats him, assuring him it will all be ok. WarMech-Z walks in
behind them, ready to help the young couple in the fite for as long as
it could. Jonesy and the Roadie and Reptile team walk in next, none of
them betraying if they were allied with the others. A secret alliance is
stronger than one in the open. Jaxx, well Jaxx was just there. He
didn't even seem to enter the arena. He was just in the middle, looking
at the other competitors.
Jonesy and the two linked competitors
move to opposite sides of Jaxx, while Sarah, Alex, and the Warmech stand
in a group in front of him. Jaxx laughs.
"How expected."
The fite begins.
WarMech-Z
launches up into the air, firing upon Jaxx with lasers, Crash Bombs,
and oh? What's this? My my WarMech-Z, you dirty rotten scoundrel! You
are firing your machine guns, Metal Blades, and Bubble Lead as well!
This of course results in immediate congratulations, because around here
parts of a robot's body aren't really weapons, it's his own self! The
bullet, bombs, bubbles, blades, and beams all sail directly towards
Jaxx, who doesn't attempt to dodge. Instead, he grabs all of the ammo,
even the laser, and spins around, hurling them back at WarMech.
WarMech-Z turns on his fan, trying to blow away the ammo, but only
manages to prevent the Crash Bombs from hitting him.
WarMech-Z
tumbles out of the air in a fiery mess as Eddie and James take advantage
of the distraction to restrict Jaxx with the cord that runs between
them. Jaxx's hands are forced to his side as Eddie and James begin to
strike him repeatedly with their axe and lance. These blows manage to
make Jaxx bleed, but before they could do any real damage, Jaxx snaps
the binding.
"That cord was a ridiculous idea anyway."
Grabbing
both ends of the now broken cord, Jaxx begins to swing Eddie and James
above his head. The two spin faster than the eye can see, but what the
eye can see is a beam of ice coming out of the twirling turtle and
freezing Jaxx in place. The suddenly frozen Jaxx stopped swinging and
the roadie and reptile are flung loose from his grip. Both slam against
the wall at other sides of the arena, Eddie colliding with Jonesy who
was trying to rush towards Jaxx to join the assault. The two tumble
back, Eddie getting nicked by the psionic blade.
Alex positions
himself behind Jaxx and was about to ram Excalibur into the frozen Jaxx
when the ice shattered. Jaxx's own blade is drawn from his chest and
slammed against Excalibur, producing sparks of unholy and demonic
energy. Alex jumps back and tries again, once more being deflected by
the Devil's blade. Sarah takes advantage of the flynning to close the
otherwise dangerous distance between her and Jaxx, casting protective
spells on herself and Alex as she ran. When she was within range, Jaxx
disappeared.
WarMech-Z was busy trying to regenerate from his wounds when Jaxx appeared in front of him.
"It's a shame you were so easy too kill. You look pretty badass."
WarMech-Z
was about to point out that he was alive and might be kicking once his
legs healed, but Jaxx suddenly grabbed the mech from behind with one arm
and slammed the Devil's Blade into the machines optics with the other.
The mech's insides begin to overheat, and both minds that make up the
machine realized they had no hope of winning anymore. So, they aimed
their weapons skyward, firing all their ammo upward in hopes that a rain
of various weapons would be able to do more than they had tried to do
in the fite. The fan, powered still by the wind crystal, whipped up a
mighty tornado, but Jaxx seemed unaffected by the wind. The tornado blew
past them, going towards the other competitors.
"Are you done?" Jaxx says, as the blade of the devil finally finishes off the combination robot.
Jaxx pulled his sword out of the optics of the destroyed machine. The many eyes turn black.
Sarah
and Alex had finished properly buffing themselves. They had failed to
harm Jaxx the first time, and WarMech-Z paid for it. The couple was now
properly prepared though, so they ran towards Jaxx, prepared to avenge
their fallen ally.
"You mad? You would be. You goody-two shoes knew this was coming, but you need someone to blame. I was too happy to oblige"
Jaxx
taunts the two blond fiters charging towards him. Sarah was using the
hammer to launch thunderbolts towards him, but he deflected them
effortlessly. Alex tried to cast some earth magic, but the earth that
pushed up from beneath Jaxx was held down by his incredible strength.
The
massive tornado the mech had made roars towards James, who was hobbling
towards the battle. The landing had sprained his ankle, but he wasn't
overly harmed. Too bad he was about to spin around again, because the
cyclone lifted him up into the air. James pulled into his shell in a
move that definitely was not Withdraw, but prevented him from feeling
the pain of the strong winds. He was hurled out of the tornado towards
Eddie and Jonesy, who had taken up arms against each other. They had
mutually agreed beforehand to have an honorable fite, ending with a
literal knock out rather than gory bloodshed.
James sailed
towards Eddie, but a quick Hydro Pump helped move his course towards
Jonesy instead. Jonesy tries to smack James away, but the speed of his
propulsion from the vortex was greater than her reflexes. James glanced
off her helmet, sending Jonesy to the ground and James into an odd
ricochet.
Jaxx and Alex, meanwhile, were flynning again,
Excalibur and the devil's blade uselessly deflecting each other. Sarah
once more placed herself behind Jaxx. She and Alex had planned this
assault style, allowing Sarah to hurt Jaxx without being within his
reach. However, the area around Jaxx was not a good place to be
currently. The last shots of the WarMech were falling back down, some
falling rather uselessly (the leaves) while other began to tear into the
flesh of the three fiters. Jaxx grimaced as Bubble Lead plops down onto
his head, but he didn't try to dodge. Alex and Sarah, though, were
scurrying about like mice who thought the floor was lava.
Jonesy
had got up and swung her weapon at Eddie, slicing Eddie's Separator.
Part of one of the axe's blades is sheared off by the blue blade of the
halberd. Eddie quickly spun the axe around, slamming it into the pole of
Nemesis. The weapon flies out of Jonesy's grip, landing in the dirt.
Jonesy tried to go retrieve it, but James has returned and is blocking
the path. He readies his cannons. Eddie readies his axe. Jonesy readies
her fists.
After the rain of ammo, Alex and Sarah resumed
their assault. Jaxx was hit by thunderbolts in his back and Excalibur in
his front. He began to bounce between the young fiters, getting hit by
one and then the other. Jaxx began to spin in a circle, trying to hit
them with his blade, but Alex managed to knock it away with Excalibur.
The Devil's Blade fell to the ground, leaving Jaxx wide open.
Alex
leaped towards Jaxx, trying to stab into Jaxx's stomach. Sarah leaped
towards Jaxx, Thor's Hammer poised to pound the Sentinel's head.
Electricity crackled from her hammer, and holy magic made whatever sound
it makes from Alex's sword. Jaxx grins, and a split second before the
two would have hit him, he disappears.
Even though Jaxx was gone, Sarah and Alex had been moving towards the same point too quickly to stop in time.
Thor's Hammer cracks open Alex's skull in a hail of lightning and
regret. The lifeless Janitor falls to the ground, and Sarah stares down
in horror at what she had done. She was about to cry, when she
remembered the Life spell. She begins to cast it, but before it could
revive the janitor, Jaxx was in front of her once more, his blade
recovered. He skewered Alex and lifted him skyward, and let the dark
energies of the blade taint the corpse.
"There, no revivals today."
He tossed the blackened corpse of Alex aside. Sarah still tried to revive it, but the spell is useless.
"Don't worry doll, I can undue it. But you'll have to kill me first."
Sarah looks at Jaxx. He would pay. He would pay dearly.
Jonesy would be dead right now if it wasn't for her armor. Long white
gashes in the otherwise red armor betrayed the fact she was not trying
to dodge the axe blows. Dents in her armor showed the points where a
lance had struck uselessly against it. Eddie and James looked very
different. Purple bruises showed where strong punches from metal gloves
had rocked them. Their mouths, opened in grunts or screams, revealed
missing teeth. They had underestimated Jonesy's strength, and their dental
health had paid for it.
James abandoned his lance, trying to use
Nemesis himself. But something about the weapon wasn't right. It had a
strange essence in it, one that Eddie might have recognized as the one
that transformed him immediately in their fite against the robots. But
now, the essence seemed to allow James to raise the weapon with ease,
but it also made him act strange. James charged towards both Jonesy and
Eddie, trying to hit both with the weapon he shouldn't have been able to
wield.
Sarah's hammer was a blur as it swung about, never
stopping as it tried to make contact with Jaxx's head. He floated about,
each time making sure to be just an inch out of the way of the blow to
help further aggravate the mage. He wasn't even swinging his own blade.
He was having too much fun.
Sarah realized what Jaxx was doing
though, and decided to let the hammer spark out wildly when it was close
to Jaxx's face again. Although she ended up having to drop the hammer
from the shock, Jaxx was also disarmed when the shock shocked him. The
Devil's Blade and Thor's Hammer fell to the ground, but Sarah did not
retrieve her weapon. She lifted the Devil's Blade, and retrieved
Excalibur in one quick movement. She stood before Jaxx, dual wielding
both a weapon of light and darkness. Jaxx didn't betray his worry, but
it was all too obvious that this did not bode well for him.
Sarah
swung forward with both blades, but Jaxx was still to fast. He dodged
easily, reverting back to his trademark long-range punches as his
preferred method of attack. The blows glanced off her Protect spell
though, and the shell itself seemed to be strengthened by the blades.
Sarah began to float, but not because of Float. The blades were working
together, creating a powerful neutral strength. The force sensed Jaxx
and his neutrality. The blades hungered to absorb the neutrality. Sarah
flew forward, pulled towards Jaxx by the blades.
Jaxx tried one
of his lightning quick movements, but to the blades, his motions were
slow. They had no trouble lodging into his sides. The Devil's Blade
plunged into his right flank, Excalibur into his left. The swords froze
him there, and he struggled to remove them, but he found them sapping
his strength. Sarah landed in front of him, looking up at the Sentinel
struggling to remove the swords. She walked back a few steps, and began
to cast a Holy spell.
"This is for Alex."
Holy destroyed the legs of the Sentinel as the two swords sucked out the
last of his lifeforce. Jaxx fell to the ground lifeless, and Sarah
allowed herself a moment to be happy for having avenged Alex. She looked
over to Alex, whose body was no longer blackened. She was going to go
and try to heal him when Jaxx's forehead began to glow.
She
quickly turned around, fearing he wasn't actually dead. The spot on his
forehead was the same one that the sheep's skull had rested on. Jaxx's
lips begin to move, but it wasn't his voice.
"Sarah, would you like to know true Despair?"
Emerging from the Sentinel's head was a massive version of the skeleton
sheep who had cursed him to be his host. Jaxx had never felt his
presence, but it had remained dormant within him to make sure it would
have a chance at fiting in the week's finale. The sheep gulped down
Sarah, who disappeared into an alternate realm. It looks towards the
three remaining fiters, and saw that James was being controlled by that
essence. That same yummy essence it had felt during its fite. The
enormous sheep skeleton gallops towards James hungrily, ready to feast.
Despair had almost too much to work with now that it had Sarah in its
grasp. A mom who had abandoned her at birth, a lover whom she had just
accidentally killed herself, a general aversion to unnecessary violence.
Despair had to think a while for what the best approach would be, and
it believed it had the perfect scenario.
Sarah found herself in
the arena. The sheep skeleton was behind her, shattered and useless.
Around her, the bodies of her friends lay. Alex, Jonesy, Eddie, WarMech-Z
and James were all dead. Jaxx was nowhere to be found though, but she
didn't register that. She noticed the crowd though. Apparently, the
sheep skeleton had went on a rampage, devouring the spectators. Erebus,
Sine, Designate, Saberwulf, even Celestia and Fang Four were bloody
messes. Sarah began to try and heal people, but for some reason, she
couldn't remember how. She tried a Life spell, but her arms shot up
uselessly without a spell to accompany them.
She tried again and
again, she tried Cure, Holy, every spell she knew. The spells weren't
working. She couldn't remember white magic.
She looked for her
sisters, and predictably found their corpses. She looked for healers,
and found everyone dead. Even the host and referee were dead. She was
the last one left. She was alone. In the world of Despair, Sarah broke
down crying.
Back in the actual arena, Eddie and Jonesy had
teamed up in a desperate struggle to subdue James without killing him.
Eddie used Clementine to heal himself and Jonesy, who had both received
nasty wounds from the wild James's rampage. James noticed the guitar's
powers, and tried to lash out at the instrument, but he was intercepted
by Jonesy.
Jonesy, Erebus's girlfriend. The essence in James saw
something to cling onto. James began to realize that Jonesy had taken
his best friend away from him, and she did it with no shame. She
wouldn't even have Erebus if he hadn't warmed Erebus's heart as a
Squirtle. James was tossed aside as soon as a pretty face distracted
Erebus. Well, Erebus wouldn't have a broad if he could take her out, and
then he could just blame it on this "essence" everyone was talking
about. Yes, that sounded good.
James quickly used his cannons to
blast Eddie away with water so he could have Jonesy to himself. Jonesy
reached out and tried to grab her weapon back, but found the halberd
slicing off her arm's armor. She pulled back in time to save the arm,
but it was now exposed and comparatively weak. Jonesy begins to circle
James, trying to keep her armor-clad left arm between James and herself.
James lashes forward with Nemesis, only for Jonsey to knock it away and
kick down at the turtle's legs. He fell to his knees, allowing Jonesy
to grab the cord on his waist ring and pull him in to a headbutt. James
fell back unconscious, but the essence had no trouble taking full
control of the body.
Jonesy barely managed to recover the halberd
when James stood back up and blasted her with both water and ice
simultaneously. She was launched backwards, but before the Blastoise
can try and go reclaim Nemesis, the Separator's broadside slams into
James's broad side and pushes him down to the ground.
James is
about to stand back up when the loud bleat of the skeleton sheep reaches
his ears. The essence trembles, remembering the teeth of the ungulate
digging into its ethereal form. James stands up and changes his focus to
the sheep, wildly firing both water and ice at it now. The blasts cause
the bones of the sheep to separate, but they began to fly towards James
at an alarming rate. James tries to run, but he doesn't get far. He is
surrounded by a sphere of floating sheep bones, which then hurtle
towards him, puncturing even his tough shell.
The essence barely escapes as the sheep skeleton removes itself from the
dead turtle and reforms. It seeks a new host, as the sheep chases after
it hungrily.
Meanwhile, a white mage has stopped sobbing in an alternate realm.
Sarah stood up, her eyes red, but her heart hardened. She may not be
able to do anything, but no one who had died here would want her to cry
over it. She looks at the dismantled skeleton of the sheep. It began to
reform.
"You. You killed everyone without remorse. I thought you
were just a cute little sheep, albeit a bit odd. But no, you are
coldblooded. I saw what happened to Jaxx in his fite. I know what you
are doing. This can't be real. We aren't that weak. We could take you
down. I could take you down."
Despair struggled to change the
situation or at least stop the mage, but it couldn't. Around Sarah, a
massive airship formed, atop which she stood wielding both Excalibur and
Thor's Hammer. This was no longer Despair's illusion. For Sarah, this
thing just got lucid.
Back in the real world, the sheep ran about
chasing the unseen essence. It needed a host, and quick. It considered
Eddie again, but the roadie had done pretty poorly when it had possessed
him last time. It saw the woman in Firebat armor. It knew Nemesis was a
powerful weapon, so it would probably find a great host in someone who
actually was supposed to use it. It floated towards Jonesy as fast as it
could, but it found itself suddenly bisected by the flat teeth of the
sheep skeleton.
The essence abandoned its other half to the sheep
as it tried to float towards Jonesy. It was too weak to continue
though, causing it to sink into the dirt uselessly.
Again, the
sheep appeared to be chewing cud. Jonesy and Eddie knew an opportunity
when they saw one. Eddie, this time by his own volition, shifted into
his demon form, allowing him to carry both his axe and Jonesy up and
above the skeleton. The two briefly considered how to go about attacking
it, seeing as how the body was wiry and hard to land on. The skull was
the obvious answer.
Back inside of the alternate realm within the
sheep's nonexistent gullet, Sarah's airship flew towards the skeletal
sheep, eventually pinning it against a wall. Despair tried to remove the
wall from the illusion, but Sarah kept it there, her will beating out
the embodiment of Despair. When the skeleton was pinned, Sarah leaped
down and slammed her hammer and sword into the sheep's skull, destroying
the skeleton effortlessly. Sarah began to stab into the ground, tearing
the illusion apart with the weapons formed of her will.
Despair
struggled to fite the young mage, sending combatants after her in an
attempt to distract her. Jaxx, the Lord of the Night, even a zombified
Alex fell too swiftly to her superior strength of mind.
Back in
the real world, the sheep had finished eating and had noticed its flying
foes. The two were forced to dodge about in the air as it attacked with
floating bones. Tiny bones pried off bits of Jonesy's armor so they
could dig into the vulnerable flesh beneath it. Eddie's axe and guitar
were knocked too the ground, where bones began to try and break them
apart, but something made them fall limp. Something was making the sheep
skeleton weak, its movements became jerky and its bones began to
disappear.
Eddie and Jonesy saw their chance. They didn't know
Sarah was weakening its power from within, but they did know that the
skull was left wide open for Eddie to drop the marine on. Jonesy landed
on the back of the bony ungulate's skull. She readied Nemesis, but the
skeleton around her tumbled as more and more of it disappeared. Jonesy
stumbled, but thankfully, Nemesis plunged directly into the back of the
sheep's skull.
The sheep bones melt away from the damage of the blow, and Sarah the
white mage tumbles out of its body. She seems to be in a trance. She had
defeated Despair on the inside, but she was still exhausted from the
mental toil.
Jonesy lands ungracefully on the ground. What she
didn't know, was that the beneath the ground, the tiny bit of the
essence that the sheep had separated was waiting for her there. It
immediately squirmed into her. Its influence was weak, but enough to
make Jonesy ready to fite the two remaining competitors. Eddie lands
next to her and helps her out, only to find Nemesis swung at him.
"Alright, if that's how it going to be, then LET'S DO THIS!"
Eddie
flaps his wings and takes off to retrieve the axe and guitar he had
dropped. Sarah tested her magic by curing herself. It worked, and she
relaxed. She was worried her victory against Despair could have been an
illusion of Despair's doing, but it seemed real. She stood up, seeing
Jonesy and Eddie. Jonesy seemed a little too willing to continue the
fite. She sighed, and prepared to fite the blonde marine.
Jonesy felt odd, but she knew that Erebus was watching, and he'd love to
see her win, right? She should try her hardest, give no quarter. If she
lost, Erebus would worry.
These thoughts motivated her actions,
and even the essence only barely had to pry at them to make her fite.
Eddie had retrieved his weapon and instrument, and flew back over his
opponent, swinging at her helmet with his axe.The helmet took the blow
like a pro, but Eddie's position above her allowed Jonesy to jump up and
grab the roadie's leg. Eddie shook off his boot, causing the marine to
fall back down with only a hand full of footwear.
Sarah began to
cast protective spells on Eddie from afar, hoping to help without having
to dirty her hands too much with violence. She really didn't want to
hurt Jonesy, but she worked her way towards her discarded hammer just in
case.
Eddie came by for another pass, but this time, Separator
didn't make contact at all with Jonesy. Instead, the weapon was sliced
in half by Nemesis. The two halves of the axe slipped from his hands.
Eddie looked down with shock, but that brief moment of looking also let
him see the marine jump up again, pulling him down by both legs.
Eddie
landed on the ground and felt his right demonic wing get stabbed with
the halberd. Jonesy slammed Eddie down by jamming his wing into the ground. Eddie tried to move his wing, but the halberd was too
deeply lodged into the ground. Jonesy got on top of him and tried to slam
her metal fist into his face, but his own arm reached up and grabbed it
before she could.
"Usually I'd be happy to have a pretty lady on me like this, but I think..."
He
was cut off when Jonesy's bare arm slammed into his mouth. Eddie
decided to bite down, causing Jonesy to pull away. He pulled his legs
back and kicked, barely able to move the armored marine off his body. He
tried to stand up, but doing so caused Nemesis to rip a big hunk out of
his right wing.
He flapped his wings, but the wings were now
drastically different in size. He couldn't fly anymore. Eddie pulled out
Clementine, his trusty guitar, as Jonesy tried to begin her assault
again.
"Sorry Jonesy, you and Erebus better not hate me for this!"
Eddie
backpeddled as he played a very specific song. Jonesy charged towards
him, but found her progress impeded by a magic spell. Holy appeared in
front of her, causing her to stop and try to run around it. Sarah used a
few more holy spells to give Eddie time to play his song.
The song ends. Nothing seems to happen. Sarah looks at Eddie, worried that something went wrong.
Then
the roof breaks away. A massive zeppelin, made of a post-transition
metal with an atomic number of 82, crashes through the ceiling and onto
Jonesy.
The lead zeppelin crushes Jonesy beneath its massive weight. The essence
leaves her corpse, squirming through the ground to try and return to
Eddie as its host. Sarah walks up to Eddie.
The two nod, ready to
tell the host that they were not going to fite any further. They were
ready to accept a friendship victory for the both of them.
That's
when the essence squirmed into Eddie. Eddie recognized the feeling, and
before Sarah could announce their decision, he begins to speak.
"Sarah, I feel it. That essence is in me again."
"What? No! Come on, lets announce friendship before it can take over."
"No Sarah. I can already feel it. You have to kill me now."
"What?! No! We are so close!"
"Just
do it Sarah! Kill me, before this turns into a bloodbath! I don't want
to hurt you either, so end this before it gets bloody!"
Sarah
begins to tear up. She didn't want to be in this fite, and she
definitely did not want to kill Eddie now that the end was so close. But
he was right. That essence would make this fite worse than hers with
Draco if she didn't stop it now. She raises her arms in the air as she
casts one last Holy spell.
"Don't cry kid, you deserve this win."
Eddie flashes her a thumbs up and a grin as the Holy spell begins to tear him apart.
Eddie's entire body is enveloped by the holy spell, leaving no body for
Sarah to cry over. Sarah was about to sob, but she remembered something.
"Jumpropeman. Get down here. We need to have a talk."
"Gezora doesn't think Jumpropeman will be able to do any talking..."
In Gezora's arms was the lifeless alternate timeline version of Jumpropeman.
